Are you going to make some kind of divider to keep the warm air away from it?
Actually the way it is set up if u were to see it in person, The stock airbox that would go underneath still has a port that u dont remember that the filter sits right behind so i am actually drawing in the cooler air from there

The turbo on Steve's GTI is on the backside of the engine...the new system sets the filter up front where it is AWAY from the heat and also direct behind the OEM air duct which interfaces in the front grille and allows a good amount of air to pass to the new filter. The OEM airbox is very poor on the GTI's because you have a snorkel a mile long and an airbox that sits practically on top of the turbo. Go VW.
