Support for Motorcycle Safety

Ok, so this summer I've lost two friends along with seemingly countless other people who have lost their lives or been hurt from accidents on the road this year. I've had plenty of discussions with people about how drivers this year are more and more careless and it seems like they don't even look out for riders anymore. It's very upsetting to me to see some things when I'm out even in my truck.

Just today I was riding behind Kate and some ditsy woman in her SUV almost changed lanes into her, and to prevent this I sped up and basically made them SEE a LARGE F350 instead of a small bike. Needless to say they were surprised that someone was there, and I got the finger as a result. :bh:

So, the question upon me and Erica, my friends and all of us on this site, is what can we do? I think we need to get the word out there. Here's a list of somethings I've thought of...

Motorcycle Safety Signs
Rallies
Wristbands, pins, posters, etc for Motorcycle awareness
Defensive Driving courses
flyers for safe driving
TV commercials about safe driving and motorcycle awareness

What else?

We can easily raise money to do this, and to show that I'm 110% serious about this, I'm willing to donate the first $250 from Technotic Media to help get this underway. Lets start brainstorming and get information out there. Knowledge is power.

For all who are coming to bike night this tues, please come up to me with ideas or any comments you wish to share with me. Anything is welcome, even if you just want to tell me that you're with me and willing to help out.

I'm going to post this on other sites as well, including stuntfactoryx.com, and I know Johnny and I have spoken about it and we would like to see support from both, so if you happen to be on both sites or any other place you see this, please show your support wherever you can.

If you need to get ahold of me, you can call me at the office at 585-298-9462, or PM me for my cell number.

Thanks.

Unfortunately this a very deep rooted problem that just happens to affect bikers the worst. The reality is this; cops don't pull over people doing shit wrong, they pull over speeders. That's it. Ever notice the recent trend of people using the center turning lane as an on-ramp to turn left out of parking lots? It's gotten so bad that they've put a median all the fuckin way up 104 to prevent accidents instead of actually enforcing the god damn laws.

People will do whatever they don't get pulled over for and until cops start doing something about all of the retards, nothing will change. I even remember a deputy talking about how some lady cut him off and chatted about how bad it's gotten...durrrr PULL HER OVER ASSHOLE!

We need to go to the cops, to the sheriffs, the state, something, anything because I've been dealing with this shit forever too but fortunately I have the safety of a car around me, bikers don't. I can tell you one thing though, don't ever bring up biker safety to them, they couldn't care less.

If you need contacts, Mike - I might be able to help out. As for educating, you're right - it's an issue. I'm hoping to get a simulator program up and running for high-schoolers sometime this year just to reinforce that point.
