Got a chance to do some more work on it tonight

Engine is pretty much ready for paint... just needs cleaning and more tape!

Forks are primed. Unfortunately, the high temp paint I used said it needs to cure for 7 days before I can put the paint coat on! So a week for it to cure, then painted black, then a week to cure after that before I can put it together

Stator/Flywheel and front sprocket cover. I dremeled off the part that covered the front sprocket.

Frame with the rear suspension and swing arm put together. Also the rear foot brake lever is attached.

Cover after being primed:

Another one of the forks:

BMX bars, ASV levers for front and rear brakes... Factory Metals Billet throttle, eBay MX triple clamp:

Good shot of the billet throttle:

Another good shot of the throttle and ASV lever:

Still obviously a ton of work to go, but its coming along...

Another thing is that andy and I are trying to convert the wheels and street tires to a tubeless design, to eliminate the problems we've been having with the tubes. Hopefully tomorrow or monday, we'll get to try and put some air in the tires.

Check out a product called Stans No-Tubes its used to convert Mountain Bike wheels into a tubeless setup by using a rim strip and a sealant. I dont know if they make a specific application for that small of a wheel but with some ingenuity Im sure it can be done

NoTubes.com - Tire Sealant, Tubeless Conversion, Tubeless Rims & Wheels

Plus I dont know if the rear shock spring is going to be visible but Ive got a few various lenght/weight black springs laying around from my mountain bikes if you wanna go black with it you can have one.

That's pretty cool. We already drilled out the valvestem hole to 1/2" and pulled the smallest car valve stem we could find through it. We then sealed the spokes and valve stem with black rtv. I let it sit overnight to cure, so I'm going put the tire on, and see if we can fill it. I'm not sure if we need to do anything special to the tire to get the bead to seal or not

That may work but I know that the main problem with bike tires not sealing on a tubeless setup is air burping out from the sidewalls. If you can find a wide but thin (material wise) strip of rubber that you can stretch over the rim and have it overlap where the bead would lock in it may seal better.

Ghetto Tubeless

Obviously this is for a mountain bike tire so you may have to modify the plans a little bit but it may work. Also a tire sealant may be needed just to work into the smallest of leaks. I know they sell just a bottle of the Stans Tire Sealant at most bike shops/sporting goods stores such as EMS. Its like $10 a bottle or so and one bottle should be plenty.

But good news that style rim you have is the style they have had the most success with getting the ghetto tubeless system to work.

Ah cool! I'm hoping that we can do this because we're taking pics to make a how-to for other crf50 owners. I think we should have good luck with the tire since it says tubeless right on the tire. That's where we got the original idea from.

I was just reading some things on the fiddylife site, and they say its doable with the billet style wheels and that the spoked ones need to be sealed. So I'd image the RTV will help, and then we can add some of the tire sealant to help it out.

They said we could have gone to a motorcycle shop to get the ATV-style valve stems, so I hope we didn't overdrill the wheels to be able to put the car ones in

RTV works for the most part. I'd use gray(Permatex Ultra Gray) next time as it bites much better and is more flexible.

Coat the tire beads with tire sealant from Napa, it's black, in a can with application brush. Glues the beads to the rim for a no leak setup and actually dries unlike the white goo most tire places use. Just get the tire mounted to the rim first, then apply, then seat the beads/fill with air. Works great.

I miss the fiddy up at KTA. I had that thing setup nice for Pete's kids
