Wow that sounds like an intense ordeal.
Words of advice though.. If you plan on getting back on a bike, take the MSF course. It will teach you alot of techniques you could have used to try and avoid the crash.
From what you have described you completely messed up on the braking. Rear braking is a great way to high-side the bike. Not to mention 95% of your braking power comes from the front.. As you found out once you grabbed a huge amount of it.
Get well Travis. Hope you get back on next season.

That sucks. The DMV should be a lot more strict on renewing licenses and eye testing. So many people drive impaired by their vision or lack of and either don't care or don't care to find out.

I have a story to prove this point - the last time my dad renewed his license before he passed away I went with him and his eyesight was horrendous without glasses - well he couldn't see the line the first or even second time they made him read it but they let him try again, for a 3rd time - well by the 3rd time he figured out what the letters were but they should've never let him try 3 times - they should've denied him - but nope, they renewed it anyway - luckily he was smart enough to stop driving shortly afterwards tho.
Scary...

Sounds like a fun and thrilling hobby.
Sorry to hear about what happened, it makes me wonder how my dad rode for almost 30 years and never got into an accident. It normally isn't the person on the bike, its just the idiot drivers all around. Glad your still all in one piece.

Sorry you crashed Travis... I too was involved in a vehicle accident, not in a car... I was swerving from hitting and old person (not really, i was trying to do a high speed wheelie through an open door) and crashed my wheelchair piss drunk... 3 fractures in my right hand, 2 fractured teeth (with pieces still in my lip) and hole in my damn lip...
