I have known him also for a couple years. He also just bought the bike a couple days before the accident.

Rip.

That road + that bike + new rider = instant statistic.

It's sad that nobody got to him first and talked some sense into him or tell him to start on a different bike.

What bike was it, all that I see is 2008 Yamaha, could have been an FZ6 which is perfectly fine for a starter bike. (I assuming you guys know him so you know what it was, most likely an R1 or R6)

Either way, it sucks to hear that, but if he was being stupid, it makes me feel less sorry.

someone dying no matter what is sad and it sucks to hear about these things.... unfortunately bike choice plays only a minor role in this imo. I know people that started on R1's. It's all about the brain-to-right-hand connection.

Yea, I agree. Thats why I said "less" sorry if he was being stupid, it still sucks, but people have to have some common sense when riding motorcycles. It would be interesting to see the statistics on motorcycle deaths for people being stupid vs other drivers not paying attention. I have a strange feeling that more than 50% are from people pushing limits/speeding in places that they should not be.

I would have to whole heartedly disagree, especially after having two friends die because of the fault of someone turning in front of them last summer.

New rider loses control of (most likely) supersport bike on a twisty road. From the information that's avaliable it seems like the bike and the riders ability are solely to blame.

Most likely no MSF, no prior experience, not starting out small.

I sure hope I'm wrong, if not, one could see this coming and nobody interviened.
