not everyone chickened out....
Hey... I didn't wuss out either... went with the PCA ... 6 cars in my run group... track to myself... ran a whole lot of high 2:20s... should have been faster but the car is scary going up the hill now that its bumpier... the rear would step out 1'+ at 110 mph entering the back straight out of 4 had to keep off the throttle for half of the hill to not die... gotta mess with the suspension or my line to dial that out, messing with air pressures didnt seem to help
mmmm brake dive... gotta love stock suspension and big brakes
wave to the camera guy (yes the attitude of the car is off... cool down lap )

Awesome, which PCA group was it?
Rear stepping out out of T4 going onto the back straight is a serious oversteer. When was your last alignment?

Most recent trip was with the local group... Hudson Champlain, but I also ran with Schattenbaum. Most of the other PCA clubs are Porsche Only events.
Its never been aligned, but it tracks predictable and true everywhere else. The car has a ton of power (320 rwhp), I am at the top of the tach in 3rd at 100mph, grab 4th exiting 3, and mid turn rear axle bump-hop in turns is a known problem in all F body (Camaro/Firebird) cars due to the solid rear axle setup. I have replaced the rubber with poly in the sways/panhard bar in the otherwise stock suspension which has made autocross a lot better, but track days a lot worse with this issue. The R compounds rock hard side wall magnifies the problem. Any ideas? I kinda figured I have 2 main issues... too much brake dive, and this bump hop. I have to swap out the OE shocks/struts anyhow, and was going for adjustable to dial some of the weight transfer forward upon braking out (the tail gets light). I think with the cars ABS It wont like brake bias adjustment from what I have read on other forums.

Well, you can diddle with the proportioning all you like, but when the ABS kicks in, the solenoids are going to be working overtime to make the wheels do what they're programmed to do from the factory.
So I'd figure your options are to either leave it alone and work with it, or disable ABS on the track and mess with proportioning so you can brake hard without fear of it kicking in and screwing up your brake bias. [If you're that motivated and courageous]

If you have a proportioning valve stock, get rid of ABS. Your threshold braking skills will rock after awhile.
I know a few guys at the HCPCA day, a few are on this forum.

I have a proportioning valve... but its not adjustable. I need a bias adjustment... or I could just keep 99.9% of the weight from transfering to the nose... The rear pads look like new after 6 track days, the fronts have ~50%. (I love those carbotech pads tho!) The brake dive is almost scary, "lockup" definitely occurs first at the rear. Plus I could use less of the cars 3460 lbs being tossed around, some weight transfer is good, but there is a reason that GM offered a tighter suspension(1LE) in this car for the "track enthusiast".
Who'd ya know there or in HCP PCA?... I haven't been around here in a while... busy with life and whatnot, but now its cold, the motorcycle is winterized, and work has calmed down...

Ahhh screw ABS who needs it. Ditch the OEM booster and circuit setup and install a swing mount dual MC split circuit with a balance bar. Totally street friendly I'm so serial! Hey it'll get you all the brake bias adjustment your left foot can handle
What...............every car should have a little true racecar in it

Oh and me but I haven't attended a track event with them in ages because I just don't have the time lately. Probably lost my membership by now but it's just a click away.....

I know Rick and the HCP regulars, but dont do much with them. I know a bunch of guys at that event tho since it was dirty cheap reg fees and they let in non-Porsche to fill slots.
If your rears are locking up first, if anything you want a little more front bias so you can squeeze the pedal harder. Threshold braking generally means your concentrating on the fronts being just off the point of locking. And if your weight is falling too far forward under this setting already, you need a stiffer suspension.
And so begins your journey of destroying a nice street car with after market track parts. My car hasnt even been started in 2 weeks.

Wah, cry me a river. HA! IIRC there's a 3.2L Scheduled for being built for your "neglected" track car. Feel grateful, at least you have a car to drive
