Good alignment shop?
I had an appointment with Firestone today and they said they couldn't do an alignment on my car because it is too low to get on the rack. It's probably for the better anyway because the guy who was going to do the alignment barely spoke english and just smiled and nodded his head as I explained what specs I wanted, how to get more negative camber by loosening the nuts on top of the coilovers, and not to push on the hood because it will dent, etc..
When I handed over the keys I was pretty sure something was not going to go right. After an hour they tell me that they can't do the alignment because it's too low to get up on the ramp. First thing I do is check the front bumper and make sure that they didn't find out it wouldn't get up the ramp the hard way. Luckily everything looked fine.
Anywho, I know Broadway Auto Clinic on Broadway in downtown Albany caters to lowered cars with aftermarket suspension, but are they the only choice around here?
I'd like to go somewhere that is used to doing performance alignments and takes a little pride in what they do.
Thanks

i took my wrx to broadway and they were pretty good. There was another place in schnectady, but I had a bad experience with them. They weren't able to fit my car, and they were complete assholes about it.

I have had bad experiences with every alignment shop I've been to around this area that can do cars with an aftermarket suspension. I also get alignments 3 times a year and have recently just driven across New England to a place I know can do good work without ass raping me.
Broadway does a decent job for a decent price, but the owner has been known to swindle customers out of money by either riding the clock or tacking on things you dont need. He also loves to give people a 30 minute lecture about how much smarter he is than you regarding your car and everything else you do.
Omilins is in Schenectady and lots of people have had decent results but my car left WORSE than when it went in. They just handed me the alignment sheet and said "you're welcome" after making it worse in nearly every category. Still have the sheet on that one, good times.
R&D Auto/Bavarian Rocket Scientists do AWESOME work. They specialize in Porsches and track/race cars but HOLY SHIT it will cost you some money. My last trip there was almost $300.
Soooooo screw all the shops in this area.

Rick Doughbush and the guys at BRS are total tool bags. They got sued by Porsche for unauthorized advertising and propaganda. Big negativo in my book. Boo them! There's a place in Rotterdam that does alignments on 18's wheelers that a friend of mine takes his Evo to and they are very good from what he tells me. Gotta try them one of these days.

ROFL.
I believe my favorite was how his 600whp 3000gt was expertly built by his loving, knowledgeable hands and burned a quart of oil every 500 miles.
He was giving me advice on my 3SGTE "tuning." You can swap in a lexus AFM, he says. It will give you more headroom on power, he says.
Lexus AFM is a hotwire setup which is compatible with the MKIII supra. My AFM is a flap-door style. I didn't have the heart to explain how the signals, plugs and metering systems were entirely incompatible.

Rolfs...
Was this Firestone in troy? I used to work there, I kept some 10ft 2x6s there to get lowered cars up on the rack. If it was troy, the tech was Louis, and he probably didn't listen to one word you said It's his way or no-way, thats probably why they made you wait, he was just being an ass to you, for wanting it done your way
I am so glad I don't work there anymore....
