Just a little vent..

A friend of mine from work Shayne LaVoie passed away in a motorcycle accident last night @ about 8PM near Berliln NY. It's my understanding he was riding on Old Post Rd with his girlfriend, when he neared a turn with cyclists coming at him in his lane. He attempted to miss the bikers, however ended up colliding with one and crashed the bike into a tree, crushing himself. He was was pronounced dead at the scene. His girlfriend escaped with only minor injuries, the cyclist is in critical condition.

RIP Shayne, you're going to be missed.

Hey buddy, sorry for ur loss.

I was calling all my buddies last night because they were all out.

We were wondering who was involved. I know how it feels, lost a handful of people from bike accidents.

I'm an avid cyclist and it urks me to hear when they are in the wrong. I honesly wish cops would treat cyclists like automobiles like they do out in places like California. If people on bicycles were issued citations for riding on the wrong side of the road, running stop signs, not signaling, etc this stuff would happen alot less. Considering a Bicycle has every right that a car does on the road I dont see why law enforcement overlooks these things when every day I see people on bikes doing something stupid (whether they realize it or not).

Anyways sorry to hear about the loss, my condolences.

I'm not going to start a war on here. I just want to make sure facts are straight. I do not know the motorcyclist, but I am sorry for what has happened to him. This is a tragic event.

My cousin Dave was one of the cyclist there with Dane. (Cyclist who was colided into).

Dave and Dana are both avid cyclist, who traveled from here to Nevada and back to Myrtle Beach on their bikes. They were in the correct lane for cycling, WITH traffic.

My cousin Dave is a cyclist. He participates in the Live Strong Lance Armstrong events, and biked from NY to Vegas and all the way back to Myrtle Beach. Dana Carr (His best friend, and friend of mine) was in a terrible accident last night.
Here is the news arcticle. Dana battled cancer, and beat it. It's a shame he has to go through this, I think he's 28 years old. And today is his birthday.

Here is a link to their "Ride of 05"
The Ride of '05

I just talked to Michele (Dave's Wife, my cousin, they have been married for two weeks). and this situation is very critical, Dana Has been touch and go through out the night, and early morning, He is currently stable at the moment, they were able to stabilize his blood pressure and heart rate, which dropped very low through the night. Its an hour by hour situation right now

The Impact of the motorcycle came to his left side, He Has a broken Leg/arm/Lower Back, which connects to his spinal cord, I don’t like to throw around the word “paralyzed” but his lower half isn’t responding, and they aren’t sure neurologically where he stands, however, If you hold his right hand, and you talk to him, he does squeeze ur hand to let you know that he does understand you and knows ur there, This is definitely a positive.

Please Keep him in your thoughts and prayers, he needs all the support he can get right now. Michele is going to call me later with any news or updates she has, His family is with him, includeing his parents, Courtney, his sister, and Michele and dave are there…

Dave escaped with minor injuries and as you’ll see from the article, the motorcyclist is dead, after he flew off the bike and snapped his neck hitting a tree, the passenger of the motorcycle, walked away…uninjured

Please keep him in your prayers, it's tough right now for everyone.
Ryan

Again, I am not blaming anyone, I just want to make people aware. This is a terrible situation for everyone involved.

Today is Dana's 28th birthday.

Motorcyclist was supposedly going 50mph.. figure Dana and Dave on their bikes going 25mph..
