100mph+ in the rain by other cars on slicks, he is definately risking their lives. obviously you are not in control at that point. i don't understand how the TU played this off as a good thing.

i guess he forgot to take in to consitteration that my smaller "race" tires are infact MUCH smaller than the stock 31"tire causing the speedometer to read 95mph when keeping up with traffic in a 55 zone

the guy made it sound like all i do is speed and i dont give a f-k about anyone else on the road

i have more than my fair share of tickets i have paid my dues and learned my lesson

occasionally yes i speed but who doesnt

all i want to so is see how fast my truck can truly go and inorder to SAFELY do that i have to bring it to the salt flats where i have to pass several tech inspections

if you all want to bust on be for liking to go fast and bringing my truck to the track you better think twice cause im just the same as all you other guys at the lot who are proud of your mustangs and comaros and montecarlos and civics and whatever else you got

we all love cars we all love to talk about cars and to make them go faster
i just happen to have a truck and a bad journalist

With a 40MPH variance, that would have put you at 120MPH, no? Considering the article said 160MPH...

No. It will increase the faster he goes. That would mean at 0mph, the speedo would've read 40mph. It's almost like a multiplier really.

This is proof positive why I'll never let a journalist near my car without agreeing IN WRITING to allow me to view the final editorial BEFORE it goes to print.

Not just because they don't know shit about cars.

Not because they have a need to add some sort of hook to the story to grab subscriber attention.

After reading the article several times with out reading this post, I was able to tell that the Author was making stuff up... Obviously a stock looking, shitty ass Tacoma isn't going to be going down the north way @ 160mph in the rain on "slicks"... Cant tell 100% from the photo, but those certainly dont look like slicks to me.... Look like bald truck tyres...

Hmm... So what sized tyres are you running.. You said stock was 31s? Picture, they really dont look alot smaller... So lets "say" maybe u got something with a diameter of 25inches... (i have 27 on my subaru) Well that would give you a 15% difference in the speedo.... so 60speedo = ~51mph --- 100speedo = 85mph --- 150 speedo = 127.5mph ... Roughly but being a pickemup truck, doesnt the speedo only go to ~100... maybe 120.... Where did this 160mph come from? was it touching the odometer?

Yeah... Just my .02 So Yeah.. The truck is Slow... Driver retarded.. Newspaper man had no idea what speed really feels like.. Editor said cool! So in the end, we got a totally screwed up story....
