we looked under the hood of the RX-8 and talked to one of the crew guys. It's a 3 rotor.

We didn't know what the rules were for the GT cars as far as deviation from the stock motor.

Yeah. It's a 20B 3-rotor.

edit: from the granam rule book... 20B Cosmo three rotor (Mazda Spec parts). 2.0 liter, 9.7 compression ratio, 3-52mm throttle bodies, maximum of 6 injectors, maximum fuel pressure 4.2 bar, intake manifold is free.
