Product advice

Bogen / Manfrotto 3011BN Tripod Legs (Black) with 486RC2 Compact Ball Head

So it's my B-day tommorow and I picked this out for myself. Well I haven't ordered it yet because I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the head or legs, pros or cons. Or if there is another tripod/ballhead combo that is stable and can support some weight as well as extend high enough to reach my face (I'm 6'2") under $200 I'm open for sugestions.

Then you've gotta spend the $$ for the good tripods. or heads at least. most decent tripods will hold a good amount of weight its the heads that never do.

I know the one I am asking about isn't the most $$$, but it does claim that the legs and the head are both rated to hold 13.2 Lbs. I just looked up the weights for my biggest lens, my flash,5D(future upgrade) and I'm around 7 Lbs. The combo in question should hold all of that plus a bit more if the max weight capacity is accurate.

since when did brew become a photographer?

I was just offering my advice, I've shot with the 20D + 70-200 + extender on that 3021BPRO and its fine. The grip heads are great, and extremely convenient. Almost every magazine shooter I've worked with use them.

The 3021BPRO legs are better than the one you posted, so offered them as a close but better option. The grip head is for convenience, but that head you posted seems like a good head. I would just get it with the better legs.

I may end up getting a different head for my 055MF4 because I have a flash bracket that adds even more weight.

Also, I rarely use my flash when I have the option to use a tripod
