Shakedown pass original movie

SOOO much to do yet, this is just one of many more shakedown passes. I'm having lots of trouble going from a 26x10.5 to 28x12.5 tire but I had to concentrate on the tune for the first 2 trips to the track, hopefully I am finishing that phase up. This is my last pass from my 3rd day at the track with the new setup, I already drained my bottle so I'm going blower only and it practically was a hot lap. I spun over 1/2 of the way thru 1st but I had been trying to dial some spin in, just got too much. I am granny shifting to make sure I get good datalogs. The car pulls timing it gets so hot by third gear and only runs 11.30, but the run does verify the tune and was encouraging because it launches flat & straight with spinning tires and is easy to drive still. I never pedaled, it sounded like it wanted to hook and they were not shuddering so I am getting closer and I think I am better than the dead hook and bog I was doing the 1st two trips to the track.

I am playing with new camera mount locations, as always feedback on the movie is appreciated.

Is a 12.5 really necessary? A buddy of mine builds 9 second fox bodies and he refuses to go any bigger than a 10. It's all in the suspension, he says, and I'm not one to question after witnessing an 8.9 run at NYIRP. Obviously you don't have a fox-body but once the front wheels are off the ground, how different is the suspension or the weight between the two?

There is a big weight differential, even after a massive diet my car weighs around 3190, I doubt if the Fox body is 2900, but you are right after 10.5 the extra tire might be hurting me. I wanted more tire for straighter launches with less drama, it does hurt me for some class racing though. The actual footprint is about 11.5 inches. These are DOT slicks, I might be better off to go with a full slick or a 27" tire since I'm only around 5900-6000 rpm at the traps, dunno but I got some sort of adjustments left to do.

I don't limit boost, but my NOS is window switched for a second stage, after I get rolling. The rear has cheap Lakewood drag shocks but there is a roll control to limit rear torsional twist and I am playing with the air bag stagger and add spring rate to both sides. This trip I had stiffened up the front shocks one click from full soft to limit weight transfer to dial in a little spin. I am happy it is launching straight, getting the 60fts down are easier when the thing is predictable out of the hole and it has been straight from the first pass. Frank at F&R setup up the pinion angle, lower geometry and the anti-roll control stagger with a tape measure and some string old school style and he was dead on. With street tires when I blast from a roll in 3rd it handles pretty good after the initial waggle as the locker grabs the axles, 2nd is a waste, not able to hold at all on pavement but it was like that with 50 less HP and the IRS. All in all the live axle swap was easier than I expected so having a little more suspension tuning is no big deal.
