Camera help

I currently have a Kodak M883 point and shoot camera and I can't seem to take indoor pictures that look decent. Outdoors I don't seem to have too many issues as the pictures look clear to me but indoors I can't take a picture that isn't somehow blurry, too bright, too dark, or out of focus and that's on the cameras "auto" mode.

Here is an outside shot

And here is an inside shot we tried taking for our holiday cards

I usually set the timer and set the camera on something solid so I won't move the camera when I press the button.

Anyone have some suggestions as to what settings to try or tips on getting some better quality pictures? I must have taken this picture 20 times and they all came out garbage.

Thanks!

I think that inside pic would look good if you cut off the left side of the pic where that candle is, try to shoot it from a different angle and noty get any extra shit in the pic

Actually, the candle's not that much of a distraction in the picture. What I would have done is used the rule of thirds and framed the picture with the tree at the right edge of the frame, and Tuckar at the bottom of the frame.

As for getting your pictures to come out right....does your auto mode set the ISO for you? If not, thats something you can try playing with. My SD550 on manual mode lets me set the ISO, and then it sets aperture and shutter. Check your booklet to see what you can set in auto, and what settings you have on manual. You'll do you pictures a good thing by learning what to set on manual

oh, and TUCKAR JONES!!!!!!!

cool, I'll have to play around with the ISO settings and see how that changes anything. I didn't know about the rule of thirds either, I'll have to experiment with that too. Thanks!
