Local Talent picked in the NFL Draft

Hey guys, Rashad Barksdale of UAlbany just got picked by the eagles, not only is he local by going to U albany but I know him pretty well, he is from Hudson (30 miles south of albany) which is basically where i grew up and he played pop warner with my brother. He only played one year at U Albany and he was a walk on, he was there to play baseball. In High School we all knew he would go pro in either baseball or football. He was running back in High School, U albany converted him to a CB/SS. He had an ok season but I guess he blew up at the pro day at U Albany and ran a 4.38 40 and the scouts loved his work out. There was an article in fridays post about him and how impressed scouts were with is work out He comes from a very good family, his father is a state trooper and is one of the nicest guys I know. Well, Congrats to Rashad for making the NFL, he is the first to do it from my hometown since Leroy Collins did in 1998. Hopefully it works out for him!

What about the kid who went to Amsterdam?

*EDIT* His name is Josh Beekman, drafted in the 4th to the Bears.

Lots of big time local athletes over the past few years. Chalmers brothers, Willie Dean (basketball), Anthony Weaver (football), Tim Stauffer (baseball), just to name a few...

I really expect more from the Capital of NY but we always been a bit weak in the big name kids... Our best school is SU aand they typically suck.

Congrats to those guys. That's gotta be awesome to play a sport for a living.

I played with Andre Davis in the NYS Senior Bowl and NYSAll-State. That kid was crazy fast.
