So the Speed6 is going under the knife...

Ok, so my G-games sidewinders are finally coming into town on tuesday, so its time to get my rear fenders rolled :yesnod: I just bought a fender roller so I'm interested to see how it turns out. If anyone has some basic suggestions or words of good-will, just drop me a line Right now we're probably looking at this saturday or sunday... wish me luck!

Add some heat and be patient. Metal needs time to anneal itself once being stretched so do small runs. If you don't allow the metal to anneal, it hardens and becomes brittle and will break which forms a tear and you're basically SOL from there. Heat accelerates the annealing process and makes the paint flexible so you won't need to repaint. Also, don't roll any more than you need, it's not necessary to roll the lip all the way flat against the inside unless your wheel/tire combo requires it. The advice I'm giving you is from my knowledge of auto-body and metallurgy/metal-working, not from fender rolling. I'll be honest, this is definitely something I don't trust myself doing. Just take your time, patience is a virtue.

Excellent point about the annealing I took many material science courses for my degree, so I get what you're saying. I do have a great heat gun, and I have excellent patience... throw in my type-A personality and I think it'll turn out well.

I figure this is a good chance to learn on my leased Mazda before I move on to my future vehicles.

Most important thing...

...keep that fender roller, becuase I may need it when you're done with it

seriously. I'll need something to roll what I'm cutting out.
