please help me figure this clutch out!

ok so this problem started last june, and today i finally got the tranny out to take a look. not that the car has driven much in the meantime. i'll do my best to describe this, but it'll prob be kind of tough.

i am getting a nasty chattering sound from what i think is the clutch, because it is really loud when engaging the clutch, and then stays constant as i am driving. its strange though because it only happens when the car gets warmed up; and the hotter the car gets, the louder the sound is. its like a ticking sound, and whatever is hitting does so in a group of 3. tick-tick-tick. damn this is hard to explain...wtf.

anyways, looking at the pressure plate you can see 3 obvious spots of more wear, which i think line up with similar marks on the flywheel. i just don't know what the hell is wrong.

feel free to ask questions, because i know this is the worst description ever. i'm hoping some people on here are a little more familiar with clutch issues

parts i changed: new oem flywheel, centerforce dual friction clutch, muncie throwout bearing. i've only put 4000 miles on this stuff, with about 6-700 break in period

there was probably something wrong with your throwout bearing, from the looks of the pressure plate and flywheel your clutch was not disengaging all the way

Well you know how bad that clutch was and have heard many people having problems with that clutch slipping etc etc. You even had problems with it doing that. The T/O bearing is still in good shape? It sounds like more a clutch problem than anything else. I would deff look into spec clutch and deff get that flywheel re-surfaced. I believe the spec clutch you need is #SC883

ok if its the throwout, then why does the clutch make the sound when i engage it? could it have gotten glazed from not disengaging all the way? and furthermore, if i replace the t/o bearing, what more do i have to do?

i just gotta make sure i get this all straightened out before i put it back together....taking that tranny out was a huge project

if your car is idling in neutral, and you hold the clutch to the floor, it's quiet... and if you release the clutch, it makes noise, correct?

from what i remember when the car actually ran, you could here the noise a little bit at idle, but loudest when engaging and still audible while driving. i'd compare the sound while driving to a baseball card in your bike spokes. not literally, but the same effect

could be a bad ppressure plate... 1 weak finger in the plate could cause some un-even dis-engaugement and also some weird noises
